From Railway Operations Group and Vintage Trains on Friday 19th May and Saturday 20th May

Quite possibly the best way to get to Rail Ale 2017 - behind a Class 37 & 47 top-and-tailed.  The train picks up in Derby at approximately 1000, heading north and stopping at Chesterfield to pick up passengers. It would be easy to go direct to Barrow Hill, almost in sight, but where is the fun in that! Instead, the train continues through Dronfield to the last passenger pickup at Sheffield.

Continuing, the train passes through Darnall and Woodhouse, then turning south down the freight-only line to Beighton Junction and onward to Barrow Hill. After a few hours soaking up the atmosphere at Rail Ale, the train will depart at approximately 1700 and retrace the outbound journey.  It is anticipated that the Class 47 will haul the outbound train and the 37 will lead on the return journey.
